Sharings at the Award Ceremony 2008 (Dec 21, 2008)
Please read the following sharings and announcement during the Ceremony below:

PURPOSE of holding this event
- inspire students creatively with the Xmas themed painting project. Let them express their happiness,
thinking and creativity in this popular and festive season.
- We create this internal contest+art show because it is a positive vehicle to encourage students to
challenge themselves to create their best quality work. We want the students to learn that the most
important thing is not to compete each other but to challenge themselves....Every year, most  students
have demonstrated great improvements. And we think it's nice to honour them with awards and have
their work exhibited publicly for everyone's enjoyment.

HARD to judge
Every year, the most difficult task is the judging part. It's easy to award someone as there are many nice work. But it's very difficult to rank them & filter out those without awards as many of them are so good. Again this year, I have invited Wilson who is our guest teacher now to be the judge with me. To tell you the truth, I am still final adjusting winners' list the day before I had to put up all the work at this gallery.....A lot of them esp. in Group B 9-12 are so close in quality. For those who won more than one awards, we are so proud of you. It is a recognition of your effort. But no matter you are winners or not, our purpose is to learn from each other. All your great work on the wall have demonstrated your talents and improvement. So that's why we set up this ART SHOW, we hope that your friends, parents and public to be able to see your effort and creativity as well. I am sure, in teachers' and your parents' eyes, you have done a wonderful work!

A special note from BWP
Teacher Wilson was invited as our first honourable guest to give away the awards for Group 5-8. I presented Group 9-12 while the Board of Director of Chi Heng Foundation was invited as the award presenter for Group 13-16. As some of you already knew, Wilson is actually not acting as an official teacher & one of the school principles, ie my partner anymore since September 08 because he has started a new business venture outside Canada. In the future, he will still be very happy though to be our guest teacher in various occasions. I am sure you will all miss him very much. We have established this school together since end of 2002. But don't worry, from time to time, he will appear in our school events as he misses us, too.

FUND-RAISING for Chi Heng Foundation
To make our Xmas paintings more meaningful to the students and to let the creative work beneficial to the community, this year we have tried to create this fund-raising event ie creating special Xmas card collections for sale using the previous years' award winning paintings. We are so happy to be able to donate money to the Friends of Chi Heng Foundation for helping the Aids-affected orphans in China.
I think this is a start for all of us and I hope we keep up this good spirit in our school. Thank you for all of your support and participations esp. for those student whose work are printed in the 6 special Xmas collections. Also big thanks to the printing donation from United Graphics.
